La Droguerie
I was looking for a store to buy household items yesterday and I got a little lost and ended up discovering a store called "The Drugstore" or La Droguerie. I went inside and couldn't believe how amazing it was. It is a store that has ribbon, beads, yarn, feathers and various little sundries for creative projects. It is very large and the selection is really unbelievable, better than anywhere I've been. The pictures aren't great because I don't think pictures are allowed so I was trying to be a little sneaky. It is everything you would expect from a store like this in Paris. Think: rows and rows of jars of beads, gorgeous bins of feathers, and the prettiest colors of yarn I've ever seen. I especially loved the painted bench! If you are into creative things and visiting Paris you must stop by this store.

ReplyDeleteUnless there are more than one of these in Paris, this is right in my neighborhood. I pass it every day going into Les Halles where I catch the Metro.

ReplyDeleteI loved La Droguerie but actually trying to buy something there is really difficult......you have to queue for everything and I think that the last time I was there I was there for an hour. There is a small branch of La Droguerie in the Bon Marche Department store in the 6th which also has all the buttons and ribbons etc but not the yarn. Bon Marche has a great selection of other yarn though.

ReplyDeleteI used to live around the corner on rue Jean Jacques Rousseau. Make sure to eat at Vincent & Vincent on that street - about the size of my dining room now. Italian food in Paris!

ReplyDeleteWow, that store looks amazing! Such beautiful colors. Whenever I go someplace new, I always make plans to "get lost" intentionally and see what I discover. But then I just seem to get lost (unintentionally) and struggle to get back on track.

I was so surprised and jealous that there was even a store like that in existence outside of the US... and Home Depot just hasn't been the same since.

ReplyDeleteI was lucky enough to find La Droguerie about 3 weeks ago. It was a busy Saturday but I had wonderful service, even though I could hardly speak French. I am knitting a scarf from a pattern they gave me, and they even put together the beads for the trim for me. One of my best memories of Paris.
ReplyDeleteJordan, I love La Droguerie! We found it on a girls' trip to Paris last year and my cashmere-designing travel companion LOVED the selection. She doesn't think we have anything comparable in the U.S. I'm sure you'll enjoy many a trip here in the coming months! All the best, kathy

ReplyDeleteI second Entrée des Fournisseurs. But don't try to take any pictures in there. I sent my French friend in to check out baby buttons and she got asked to put her iPhone down - in English, too! I guess they get a lot of us Anglo wanderers. :) But you just cannot beat the cute buttons and ribbon labels that say "hand knit" and "made with love by maman" all in French.
