Today is the day of Roman's cleft lip repair surgery. Aubrey Trinnaman came over yesterday and took some pictures of him before his little face gets changed forever. I love Aubrey and for the record I think she is a genius.
We love this little guy so much. See you on the flip side.
And here is one of Moses with his new haircut.

ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos! How do you luck out with two such beautiful kidlets?
ReplyDeleteRoman is an angel and best of luck for his surgery.
My 'baby's' 1st cleft lip/palate repair was almost 15 years ago. What the doctors can do is amazing and it is humbling to witness the strength and resiliency of a tiny person.I will be thinking of you and your beautiful boy today.
ReplyDeleteSweety :-)
ReplyDeleteMy father's cleft lip surgery was in 1945 when Vienna was bombed basically every day. And it when really well. So it should work out for you and your little one, too!
Good luck!
Sending good thoughts to you and your beautiful family. :)

corinne (from Switzerland)
All best to you and sweet baby Roman! Roman totally looks like you...so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteoh the gorgeous little poppet. Doesn't it just break your heart to put them through pain, but you know that ultimately it's for the best. Not that it's any comparison but I had my daughter's tongue tie corrected when she was 5 days old, and even as a doctor myself it's still hard to have a stranger take your child off you and 'operate' on them. But I know that in the future it means less chance of speech impairment and some other benefits. So I understand a tiny little bit what you are going through. My prayers and best wishes are with you at this time.
ReplyDeleteSending prayers to your family today and the photos are darling. Very sweet.
ReplyDeleteOmgosh, he is beautiful! Those eyes and that skin! And Moses is still precious! Praying for a successful, non-eventful surgery for y'all.

ReplyDeleteWishing you and Roman the best today! The photos are gorgeous (as is the baby!) and I really commend you for having them taken and posting them. We all need to get more comfortable with the varieties of human diversity---whether they be physical, neurological, or whatever. It's wonderful that Roman's cleft will be repaired, and it's wonderful that you've loved him and welcomed him as he is.

ReplyDeleteI have been thinking of your family, and hoping that Roman's recovery has gone well. Our 3rd day of recovery was always when we turned the corner for the better. I will never forget that moment of seeing our little one for "the first time" all over again. I love your photos of Roman. I treasure all of our photos that we have of before lip repair. 7 years later and it amazes me to look at them.
ReplyDeletePraying that you have a restful weekend and that Roman is eating well.
As the mom of a 'child' with a cleft, you will be surprised who you see when you see him for the first time! It was only then that I could tell he looked like his big brother! My son is 27 now and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteA word of advice...be sure you have equipped him with an answer to have at the ready when friends and classmates ask about his scar. They will, but if it is never a big deal to you...it never will be a big deal to him!
His answer was, "my lip didn't finish growing before I was born so the doctor just sewed it up!"
If they already have an answer at the ready, they are less likely to be embarrassed and caught off guard.
If I can ever be of any help to you, I would be more than happy to. My email is tonja24@gmail.com.
God bless you and your beautiful boy!
Tonja Owens
you and your husband have a knack for making beautiful babies :)

ReplyDeleteWhat an absolutely beautiful little boy. Hope the surgery went well.
ReplyDeletesuch amazing pictures...i love the one w/ the snake. our thoughts and prayer are w/ y'all!
ReplyDeleteI love how different your boys look, and Roman so like you!
ReplyDelete2 of my babies have had high medical drama, most recently my now 18-month-old who started cancer treatment at 5 months and had extensive surgery. It's hard as a mom to see your own sweet half-my-heart go through surgeries and procedures, but their healing powers are amazing and memory blessedly short. I found it an honor to accompany him (and cried a lot, too).
And children's hospitals are staffed with God's own.
Roman is so darling! I love that your boys are so different looking. (Moses is adorable too :)
ReplyDeleteBrothers, how fun.
ReplyDeleteI always pray that God will give the doctors wisdom and work through their hands.
Roman has life. Soon it will be easier.
Blessings to your family
Wow! He has grown a lot! I looove those photos! Roman is gorgeous in all of them! And Moses... what a handsome and big boy he is turned into! You're a lucky mum!

He's so beautiful, Jordan! I'm sure everything will go well and I'll be thinking of him:)
ReplyDeleteThose are GREAT pictures of Roman. And how cute does Moses look? He looks a lot older now, doesn't he?
ReplyDeleteFantastic pictures! And such a good idea. I'm sure there's a part of you that will look back at these and 'miss' the little guy that you see once the cleft is closed and you 'forget' in your day-to-day life how he looked when you first met him! All the best & speedy recovery!
ReplyDeleteoh my. you really do have the most adorable children.

He is already beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI'm way late posting on here, but I had to comment when I saw your sweet Roman. I just spent the evening with my nephew Les, who just turned one and who was born w/a cleft lip and plate. Having spent this last year going through all of the surgeries and procedures with my sister, I just wanted to thank you for posting these pics. Your little boy is gorgeous now, and will be gorgeous after his surgeries as well. It's funny how things like this can teach us so much about beauty. I pray that all is going well with Roman. He is precious!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute!
ReplyDeleteHe is adorable! What day was he born? He looks about my daughter's age. She was born 27 Feb 2010. :)
