We've been sad this last year as we've watched Polaroid film disappear from the store shelves and when it has reappeared it has been ridiculously expensive. We currently only have one pack of film left so I started to look into alternatives. For Christmas this year I got Paul two new instant cameras.
The first was a vintage Polaroid 600 SE that is clunky and heavy but uses Fuji instant film and takes really really stunning pictures. Jonathan Canlas was really kind and answered a lot of my questions about this so I knew which one to get. (Paul took his Film is Not Dead Workshop in 2008.) So far we've only used the FUJIFILM FP-100B with it.
Here are some of the pictures it takes (These are from Jonathan Canlas, go here to see more):
The second was the Fujifilm INSTAX MINI which is a darling little camera that takes credit card sized photos. I had heard good things about this camera but was surprised when I really really loved using it.
Here are a couple photos I took with it over the break. There is special film for the Instax Mini (we bought a lot off ebay and had it shipped from Asia because it is so much cheaper.)
I am in love with that settee in the last photo - is that yours?
ReplyDeleteThe photos of the Golden Gate and the Palace are breathtaking. Wow.

ReplyDeleteThe Fuji Mini is sooo cute. Glad to hear you like it, I was wondering if it was worth getting.

ReplyDeleteI love my little instax! Thanks for the tip about the 600 SE. That would be a great gift for my husband too.
ReplyDeleteI've got to get my hands on the second camera you mention. That sounds cool. Quick question for you - do you still sell the pretty premade label templates?
ReplyDeleteGreat choices! They both take gorgeous photos! XO.

this is on my wish list...thanks for the film tip.
ReplyDeletewhat kind of sofa is that?
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of the Polaroid 600 SE. I am a primarily digital photographer, but I love the idea of film. If you ever get a chance I would love to hear your thoughts on it, and its ease of use. I found one on EBay and was wondering if you thought it was worth $200. Thanks, and beautiful Blog!!
