After Normandy we decided to take a spur of the moment trip to Belgium and The Netherlands so that we could see the Tulip fields. Amsterdam is only a five hour drive from Paris, so it was an easy and quick trip. When we decided to move to Paris I made a list of “bucket list” of things I wanted to do while we were here. And seeing the tulip fields in Holland was near the top of the list. Our schedules have been busy during the small window that the tulips are in bloom so we thought we were going to have to miss them. I’m so happy we made it happen. The colors were so vibrant and it was one of my favorite days of this whole trip.
Have you ever seen the tulip fields in real life? It is crazy how colors that bright come from nature, they almost seem fake.
Sorry there are so many photos. It was hard to edit them down.

ReplyDeleteabsolutely gorgeous! thank you for sharing so many photos!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE it! I wonder- do they grow them just for the sale of the bulbs? It appears obviously not to sell as blooming plants or else they would "harvest" before they bloom. Curious minds want to know.

ReplyDeleteYes I absolutely loved visiting the tulip fields when we lived in Amsterdam. Keukenhof is a magical place, not to mention the most photographed place in the world! It's easy to see why, isn't it? Glad you made it there, since the fields are blooming for such a short window of time. Definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Beautiful family in beautiful fields of flowers, very gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are BREATHTAKING!
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful in person as well! If you have some time, I highly recommend heading over to Switzerland. Geneva, Zurich, Bern everything is beautiful. BUT if you're there around Ash Wednesday next year...Fasnacht is a HUGE carnival in Basel every year, and the city of Basel is an amazing Swiss city right on the border with Germany and France. I highly recommend a trip out to my old stomping grounds in Rheinfelden...just so much history and beauty. If you go, you must get Leckerli. Everyone gets Swiss chocolate, which is delicious, but Leckerli is the Swiss cookie...so tasty!!
ReplyDeleteI would also recommend absolutely anywhere in Greece.
It doesn't seem possible to get better than this!
ReplyDeleteWow! Really.
ReplyDeleteAltough I'm from Holland I also think it's still so special. Last weekend the boyfriend and I jumped on our bikes and biked trough the countryside. I made a post about it: http://vera-elisabeth.blogspot.com/2011/04/tulips-lots-and-lots-of-tulips.html
ReplyDeleteJordan I am so glad you didn't edit your photos down!
ReplyDeletewow what a visual feast. It must have been heaven to be amongst all those beautiful flowers.
My family lives in Holland and I went to see them over the Easter holiday - the tulip fields are some of the first things you see from the air flying in, it's so pretty!

ReplyDeleteThe solitude in that field makes the images even more impressive. Did you feel like you were the only people in the world, standing in the huge field of tulips?

ReplyDeleteThis is unbelievable! So beautiful! I know what you mean about a landscape having such bright colors that it looks fake. I felt that way when I was in Switzerland during Autumn. In Lucerne, the grass was bright green, the mountains were capped with perfectly white snow, the lake was perfectly blue, the trees were bright orange and red - everything was so vibrant, it was hard to believe it was real.
ReplyDeleteAmazing photos. I love tulips. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis makes me happy ;)
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures, I´M GLAD YOU POSTED THEM ALL!
ReplyDeleteKind regards from Argentina.
