The last few years have been rough since we've dealt with Roman's surgeries and the stress of medical bills so I'm really looking forward to a year of slowing down, spending time with my family, and experiencing the "joie de vivre" of France.

photo from Flickr (and actually its from Italy) but I liked the photo.

That is so exciting AND inspiring! I hope to do something similar one of these days. I have a friend who is in the process of doing the same and just started a blog to document the experience:
ReplyDeletehttp://thejesusyear.wordpress.com/
Have you found an apartment yet? My friend said you had to be able to put down an address in France that you'd be staying at for a year on your visa application (it could be a hotel you booked and then will cancel), but would love to hear about that process. Enjoy it all and can't wait to read all about it xx!
Yay! I'm so excited for you all!
ReplyDeletethis would be my dream come true!!!
ReplyDeleteI live in SF too, moved from NY and would love to move to another big city once more. Question: does health insurance transfer...what about pediatrician care?

Leave it to Jordan to actually make something like moving to Paris a reality. So proud of you!
ReplyDeleteA year feels like forever... I'm already feeling sorry for myself.
I'll just have to come visit, right?!
How exciting! I just ordered two paintings from Paul in the commission project and since I actually live in Paris, I really hope that I get to meet you both while you are here.
ReplyDeleteI have two small children and would love to share the ins-and-outs of navigating Parisian Parenting with you.
I have some old school friends- a novelist and a web-designer- who moved to France a few years for a year to try out life in the French countryside. They are still here and they've added a baby to the mix! They make it look so easy that I'm sure you'll have no problem figuring it all out. Good luck.
That is the happiest of news!!! Yay!! I've always felt that way too... each time we've moved to a new country I am amazed by how simple it really is. You pack your bags, buy plane tickets and off you go!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!

ReplyDeleteThat is wonderful news, indeed! I lived in Paris so I'm happy to be a resource should you need it.
ReplyDeleteJordan, very exciting news about Paris. A few years ago I read the book, Paris to the Moon by Adam Gopnick who moved from New York to Paris with his young family and I thought you might enjoy reading it. Plus, you may want to check with a travel agent, but purchasing a one way ticket will get you the full security pat down at the airport. Things may be different for you , with your work Visa.. so I hope that's not the case for you. Best wishes for you and your family.
ReplyDeleteSo funny to find my picture here while I was browsing your wonderful blog! :)
