I ordered 2cm sized felt balls. Threading them is pretty easy, just make sure the needle is nice and fat to make enough room for the thread. To make 4 feet of garland you need about 30 balls. (I hung some on my new little Rosemary bush.)

do you tie knots in between to keep them in place or do they just stay put?

ReplyDeleteI've seen really cute, super cheap versions done with craft store pom poms, I know hobby lobby has cute (not crafty!) colors. I've been meaning to do one for ages, maybe for christmas!
ReplyDelete@molly They stay put. I used a textured string that helped with that. I didn't try it with a smooth string so not sure how that would work.

what a cute little garland! there's no space for a real christmas in my apartment, but i love this idea of decorating a rosemary plant!

I saw this on anthropologie, too, but knew I wouldn't spend that much money for it. I bought fashion crochet thread at JoAnn's Fabrics, and the felt balls stayed in place.
