One thing rad we did at our wedding was have a portrait done. I didn't want to do pictures of us every where because it felt self-aggrandizing to me. So instead we had portrait commissioned by a local artist. We displayed it at our reception and now it sits in our hallway. And someday it will be a very cool heirloom for our children. {In the background you can see a painting easel and a bird sitting on it. I requested the bird.} :)

i love this painting. and i love the idea. just like your wedding ring and all that other stuff you do that i am jealous of, i will probably copy you.
that really is rad. I like that idea better than having photos all over like you said.
it's beautiful. I also did't like the idea of photo for my wedding, so I did a caricature of us and it turn out really great! You have the most surprising and pretty ideas!
You look so beautiful in the painting, it is such a romantic idea. I do find big studio pictures of the couple at the reception a little 'self-publicist'.
love it & want one...but then i would be adding to my walls of coby & ashlynn.

I hope you check comments on old posts:) I just remembered this one and had a quick question. Who was the artist you commissioned and (hope you don't mind me asking this!!) about how much would a person expect to pay for something like this? I love the idea and love the painting and just might want to do something similar for my own upcoming nuptials:)
